How to choose a solar battery installer in Brisbane.
A battery quote is a design, an installation scope and a support promise—not just a box with a kWh number. Use this checklist to compare who is responsible before and after switch-on.
Start with identity
Know who sells, designs and installs the system.
A solar retailer may sell the system and engage an accredited installer, or an accredited installer may sell and install it directly. Ask for the legal business name on the contract, the installation business, the accredited installer’s number and the contact that owns support after commissioning.
For a battery receiving support through the Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme, the current accredited installation pathway and approved equipment requirements matter. A badge alone is not enough: verify the installer’s current status and make sure the full battery and inverter models in the proposal match the products being supplied.
Compare like with like
Six things every written quote should make clear.
1 · Full equipment models
Battery modules, inverter, meter or CT equipment, backup hardware and monitoring platform should be identifiable—not described only by brand and capacity.
2 · Usable capacity and power
Ask for usable kWh, charge and discharge limits, inverter output and backup output. Capacity does not prove how many appliances can run at once.
3 · Existing-solar pathway
The quote should say whether the current inverter stays, whether the battery is AC coupled or whether a hybrid inverter and PV redesign are included.
4 · Site work and exclusions
Phase, switchboard, cable route, mounting surface, access, protection and location constraints should be included or identified as items requiring confirmation.
5 · Backup scope
“Backup ready” is not the same as installed backup. The quote should identify circuits, switching equipment, output limits and any loads that are excluded.
6 · Handover and support
Confirm commissioning, app setup, shutdown instructions, grid paperwork, warranty documents, registration and the first contact when a fault occurs.

A good installer asks questions before making promises.
Useful questions from the installer
- What do you use after sunset and overnight?
- What solar and inverter are already installed?
- Is the property single- or three-phase?
- Which circuits matter during a blackout?
- Where can the battery and equipment be installed?
- Are EV charging, a pool or larger loads planned?
Warning signs in the sales process
- A savings guarantee without bill or tariff assumptions
- “Whole-home backup” based only on battery kWh
- No full inverter model or supported battery combination
- Unclear responsibility for grid approval and warranty claims
- Pressure to sign before exclusions are shown in writing
- A price that cannot explain switchboard or site variations

How many solar battery quotes should I compare in Brisbane?
The Australian Government consumer guide recommends obtaining at least three quotes. Compare the complete system, site work, backup scope, warranties and support pathway—not only battery kWh or the headline price.
What accreditation should a battery installer have?
Ask for the installer’s current Solar Accreditation Australia accreditation and battery endorsement, then verify it. The electrical contractor and individual electrical worker licensing relevant to the Queensland installation should also be confirmed.
Is the cheapest home battery quote usually the best value?
Not necessarily. A lower number may omit switchboard work, backup equipment, grid connection, monitoring setup or site-specific labour. The useful comparison is the written scope and responsibility after installation.
Can an installer quote accurately without visiting my home?
A preliminary range may be possible from a bill and clear equipment photos. Before treating a proposal as firm, the installer should have enough evidence about the inverter, phase, switchboard, location, cable route and backup circuits to identify exclusions and possible variations.
